Barrier Repair 101 is here to help you understand what your skin barrier does, why it may become damaged, and how to support it with simple, gentle care. This section will guide you through the basics of calming irritation, rebuilding hydration, reducing unnecessary exfoliation, and choosing products that help strengthen the skin instead of overwhelming it.


Whether your barrier has been affected by over-exfoliation, acne products, weather changes, stress, treatments, or using too many active ingredients at once, the goal is the same: simplify, soothe, and rebuild. Healthy skin starts with a strong barrier. Once your barrier is supported, your skin can better tolerate treatments, active ingredients, and long-term correction.


 

BARRIER REPAIR 101:

Your skin barrier is basically your skin’s security guard. When it is happy, your skin feels calm, hydrated, and strong. When it is irritated, everything feels intense.


WHAT IS YOUR SKIN BARRIER?

Your skin barrier is the outer protective layer of your skin. It helps keep moisture in and irritants, bacteria, and environmental stressors out.

When your barrier is healthy, your skin is better able to stay hydrated, balanced, and resilient.


SIGNS YOUR BARRIER MAY NEED REPAIR:

• Stinging or burning when applying products
• Tight, dry, or itchy skin
• Redness or irritation
• Flaking or rough texture
• Sudden sensitivity to products you normally tolerate
• Breakouts that feel inflamed or irritated
• Skin that looks dull, shiny, or dehydrated


HOW TO SUPPORT BARRIER REPAIR:

• Pause exfoliants, scrubs, retinol, acids, and strong active products
• Use a gentle cleanser only
• Apply hydrating and calming products
• Moisturize morning and night
• Wear SPF every morning
• Avoid picking, scrubbing, or over-cleansing
• Keep your routine simple for 1–2 weeks
• Reintroduce active products slowly once your skin feels calm again


BARRIER-FRIENDLY ROUTINE:

Morning: Gentle cleanse or rinse, hydrating serum, moisturizer, SPF.

Night: Gentle cleanse, hydrating serum, moisturizer.
